Sydney Travel Experience

Pics from Sydney are finally up, My friend is having such a good time that he is refusing to come home  maybe I'll have to stay here with him just to keep him company and make sure that he doesnt get into any trouble.

On Monday everyone was laying in so I went on a little exploration trip and ended up in the Maritime Museum (dad  you would be so proud). It was actually really cool because rather than just being about boats it charted the history of the settlement of Australia  very interesting.

That night we went to a fluro party in the bar next to our hostel (The Scary Canary) which basically meant that if you put fluroscent paint on you got cheap drinks, nice It turned into a very long night and, after going to another bar, we ended up getting McDonalds on the way home, Yes after years of refusing to ear McDonalds  the need after a drink has gotten me.

On this day we didnt wake up until really late again (Im sure that I have slept more here than I did the whole time I was in Thailand) and the weather was really really crap - literally torential rain from dawn till dusk. So we all just chilled out at the hostel but its really good because you get to know so many different people and find out where they have been, where they are going and their home life, etc.

Yesterday when we woke up it was finally sunny so we decided to make the most of it and go to Manly Beach. To get there you have to take a ferry which was cool because it was almost like our own tour but much cheaper. Manly is such a nice place - really chilled out and relaxed and less touristy than Sydney centre. We watched the surfers on the beach (there is no way i am going to be able to learn how to surf  it looks so hard). In keeping with tradition we got fish and chips to eat on the beach steps but then got attacked by seagulls. It was literally like the mine scene from Nemo and one actually stole a chip from my hand.

Along the High St there was the most awesome busker called Dean Haitani who did really original versions of songs plus his own ones. He was so good that we all sat there for about an hour just listening and then bought his CD - he made a killing off of us.

Last night we went to another fews bars but at the last one they wouldnt let my friend in so we ended up in McDonalds again. YES,  I know that I am gross and disgusting and I am hanging my head in shame right now.

So thats what Ive been up to for the past few days. Tonight  wait for it  I am going to see a performance at the Sydney Opera House You have no idea how surreal it feels to say that.  I am going to see a play called Honour that looks fantasic (unfortunately I couldnt afford Coppelia the ballet which is what I really wanted to see). But I am so excited i just dont even mind I will let you know how it is. Make My Trip
