The Rise and Fall of Osama Bin Laden

On May 1, 2011, President Barrack Obama from the United States of America announced that US Navy Seals had indeed found and shot dead the world's largest terrorist, Osama Bin Laden. The Navy Seals had apparently found a compound that would hide someone of importance and entered this compound. Once inside, a huge gunfight occurred, but no Navy Seals were killed or injured in the attack.
Reports are saying that Osama was shot dead in the head, along with 3 others, including one believed to be his son. The other two were believed to be couriers of Osama. Osama was considered to be the #1 fugutive on the United States' FBI Most Wanted List with a bounty of $25 million for anyone who captured him.

While Osama was considered to be one of the worst terrorists of all-time, he was not born into this lifestyle. In fact, he was born into a very wealthy family.
Osama Bin Laden was born on March 10, 1957, which is not verified, but is the best guess. He was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to the extremely wealthy Sadi Bin Laden family. He is believed to be the 17th child in a family of over 50 children. At the age of 13, Osama's father died in a helicopter crash but left $80 million to Osama in the process.

Throughout his young life, people often described him as hard-working, devoted to religion and loved doing charity work. Also, he was known to love writing poetry. So how did this seemingly rich, nice young man turn into the most feared terrorist the world has ever seen?
In 1979, Osama joined the rebel forces in Afganhistan to help repeal the attacks from the invading Soviet Union. In fact, he formed an Islamic jihad name Mujahideen, which was also funded by US Presidents Carter and Reagan for 10 years through Operation Cyclone. In fact, Reagan even praised the organization as Freedom Fighters! Obviously, this was way before his radical roots, but to say that US helped to start and fund Al-Qaeda is not much of a stretch.

However, in 1988, Osama split from his partner in order to form a more independent group of military forces. His partner wanted to work more with the Afghan army, and Osama wanted to be more independent. This is how Al-Qaeda was ultimately formed.

Though it was held as a secret, Al Qaeda was formed on August 11, 1988. He also offered to help defend and protect his homeland of Saudi Arabia during the Desert Storm War, but they decided to continue to use the United States support. He then blasted Saudi Arabia, saying how foreign troops should not be on sacred ground, like the US was. It was then that he turned to attacking the Western countries of the world.

He continued to be outspoken against his homeland so much that in 1994, the king of Saudi Arabia asked his family to take action. They then cut off his $7 million a year payment and ultimately disowned him after he and the Egytian Islamic Jihad tried to assinate the president of Egypt. He was no longer apart of his billionaire Saudi family.
As most people know, he was charged with the 1998 bombing of a US embassy as well as the largest attack on US soil, the 9/11 attacks.
