Read Before You Buy Wedding Dresses
I dreamed of my wedding day since the time I was a little girl and not even all those years of day dreaming and movies and magazines could prepare me for the magnanimity of reality - my wedding day. Planning a wedding is no easy task and neither is selecting a wedding gown. The first thing anyone thinks of when the word 'wedding' is said to them is a beautiful white gown. You can't just walk into a bridal boutique and select the first gown you see. Prepare yourself for plenty of trials and changes and lots of shopping. You cannot just wake up one morning and decide to buy yourself a bridal gown. There are a few basic things one must need to know before heading out to select a bridal gown:
Date of your wedding
Did you know that the season you get married in plays a really big role in your selection of a bridal gown? Let me put it this way, you don't want to get married in a short white lace dress in the freezing winter. Your poor Prince Charming definitely has not read up on hypothermia. The season in which you decide to tie the knot should influence your choice of a wedding dress. If you are planning to have a winter wedding - choose a full length gown; a summer and spring wedding compliments shorter hemlines while autumn is a flattering time to carry off asymmetrical hemlines! Please note that your dress choice is not a compulsion. If you have found that perfect gown that you just adore and you know you want to get married in choose it! Just make sure that the conditions are favorable to you wearing it or make arrangements so that you will be comfortable in the gown.
Theme
Always choose your gown based on the theme of your wedding. It just would not look right if everyone from your going to be husband to your bridesmaids to your guests come dressed appropriately matched to the theme while your gown has nothing to do with it. If you have selected a theme like say 'a Hawaii wedding' ensure that the style of your gown matches it while simultaneously flattering your body type.
Color
The traditional color of any wedding gown is of course 'white' but then again a lot of women have long since broken tradition. A lot of women have begun opting for ivory - especially those who are getting remarried. Another popular choice is to infuse the wedding theme into the gown. For example, if there is blue bridesmaids dresses, then your wedding dress may have a blend of white and blue or blue borders. Light pink gowns are also quite loved.
Comfort
I've left this to the end quite simply because it is the most important. No matter what your wedding gown choice is, what your theme is or which season you choose to get married in, an important thing to remember is that you need to be comfortable in your choice. You will be spending a large part of your day in that gown and being uncomfortable for the sake of style is simply not worth it. When you are uncomfortable it shows and there is nothing worse than a conscious bride!
