Options for accepting credit card payments via your mobile phone

Working from home can be liberating, but not always easy.  Charging for products or services can be complicated.  One alternative is to accept payment via your mobile phone.  Below are a few ways to do this.

Pay Pal

Pay Pal is a popular way to accept payments and has been around for quite some time.  Recently, PayPal has started to offer a mobile payment option.

Their iPhone app has already been downloaded more than one million times in less than a week.  The app allows users to split restaurant checks, collect money for events, set payment reminders, and manage their Paypal accounts among other things.

BlackBerry

BlackBerry enables you to process credit cards on the go with BlackCharge.  “All you need is an active data or WiFi connection, and an Authorize.net, NMI, or PayPal PayFlow merchant account.”

Also, they do not ask for any transaction fees or take a percentage of your profits like many credit card processing companies do.

VeriFone

VeriFone is announcing the release of “PAYware Mobile an iPhone card payment solution sold through Apple Retail Stores and the Apple Store online.  PAYware Mobile is an actual credit card reader that slips over your iPhone and allows you to swipe your credit card wherever you are at.  This reduces a small businesses’ loss of sales due to the inability to accept payment by credit card.

These are just three of the many merchant service options available for home business owners to take advantage of.  With the popularity of smart phones, business technology is finding new and useful ways to take advantage of the convenience of mobile Internet.  Whether you are an iPhone, BlackBerry or Droid user, smartphones are becoming a hub for home based business owners everywhere.
