Stuck on a law made three years ago to help improve the look of Cordova, Alabama, Mayor Jack Scott has decided to ban FEMA trailer that were brought in to help the homeless in town from the recent EF-3 tornado. And the residents of Cordova are not taking it lightly.
Citizens of Cordova are fighting the man who made the decision, trying to find any way to remove the person who seems to have no sympathy or even a heart at that. And he is not sorry about his position. He says he could even look someone in the eyes and say he has no remorse.
The mayor's main concern is that he does not want his town filled with these trailers for years to come, such as the ones that are still left from Hurrican Katrina. This is not normal in most areas with FEMA trailers, but he sees this as something that could happen in his town. And we wants nothing to do with it.
Residents whose homes were destroyed assumed they would be able to live in one of the hundreds of long, skinny mobile homes that FEMA is providing as temporary housing for tornado victims. After all, the Cordova Police Department, a pharmacy, a bank and City Hall all have moved into similar trailers since the storm.
But Scott says it is different, since they are providing a needed service. Just forget that people need a comfortable place to live, just like he has. But he doesn't care about that. He just is worried about the image of Cordova, which is also in ruins anyways from the tornado. Good call Mayor.
