A guide to gaining site traffic

This past week, you’ve been working on a new project that you are excited about and have planned for months. This project is a brand new website that you have managed to build up and promote. However, you aren’t getting the results that you planned for. For example, you would like thousands of visitors flocking to your site each day but have only achieved an average of 30 people a day. If you’re new to the idea of website traffic, we have put together a guide to gaining site traffic just for you:

Always build backlinks
Pointing as many backlinks as possible to your site will do you wonders. Why is this? Well, Google looks at other websites to see how many links point to your site. This is part of their “secret” algorithm. Although they do not tell us this, many SEO experts know this because they have done research on ranking their own sites. Just by building backlinks to your main domain name, you can get it ranked very quickly and thus in return, get tons of organic traffic from the search engine. Keep in mind, all of this website traffic is free and lasts forever.

Promoting your site through classifieds
This is a very unique idea, considering most people don’t do this for their website. There are so many people using classifieds like the all-too-popular Craigslist. Place your ad in the right category, and you can actually target your niche. For example, if you have a landscaping business and want to show off your picture portfolio, you can do this on Craigslist with a link. Just be sure to add it under “Services” or “labor”.

Using Google Adwords
Google Adwords can become pretty expensive in most cases, but it is definitely worth it in the long run. Your website link or ad will display on other relevant websites from publishers who have the Adwords plugin or application. You pay per click on each advertiser you get. Keep in mind, all your visitors are coming to your site because they are interested since it is targeted traffic.
