Christmas - How To Computerise Your Card Sending

Save having an entire cupboard or even room in which to store all our holiday paraphernalia, the only way to tackle and avoid Christmas confusion is to plan ahead and get organised. Most of us have personal computers these days, but have any of us really put them to their full use when it comes to computerising Christmas, or at least some aspects of it? Probably not.

Perhaps the very concept of doing so has a slightly cold feel to it. After all, what do perfunctory things like hard drives and databases have to do with spreading our love during the most wonderful time of year? More than you might imagine. We're reminded as early as September that Christmas is on its way. We might sigh and protest that the department stores are ahead of themselves and that telling us in the eight month that we need to get our acts together is a little premature.

Come late October, early November, we have a niggling suspicion that we should have listened. And the big holly-bedecked day looms ever nearer. Before we know it we're rifling through every piece of paper in the house looking for that carefully written but now mislaid list of card recipients. It is now that we really start to regret not being more organised. There is, after all, plenty to be doing when it comes to the lead up to the holiday, and we want things to run smoothly. Disorganisation wastes time and causes stress. Here are some tips on how you can use your PC to help you keep your cool while spreading warmth at Christmastime.

Have you thought about computerising your card sending?

You do such things in your working life, don't you? So why not create an Excel spreadsheet to manage your Christmas card list? You can store all the relevant info in one place, including names and addresses. The beauty of making a spreadsheet is that you can easily update the information and the contact details whenever you need to. You can even include new additions to families And that really will stand you in good stead with your acquaintances There's nothing worse than forgetting to mention little newborn Noel or Holly in your card greetings!

While you'll maybe want to write your cards by hand there's no reason why you can't save time and work more efficiently by the Excel data to print your envelopes for you. Of course, if you're really keen to embrace this aspect of a computerised Christmas concept a little further you could print your interior card messages from your computer too. There are plenty of attractive fonts that you can download from the Internet that will add a professional touch to your cards. That's assuming you want to physically involve yourself with the sending of your yuletide missives.

If you don't then there are a number of businesses online that will snail mail cards on your behalf. All you need to do is supply the company with your recipients' details, choose the card type and sit back safe in the knowledge that the rest will be done for you, and on time! Sending your seasonal messages in this way is more expensive than doing it yourself but as a time saver it's well worth the additional cost.
